Your page which poses the question says 22-50 more than the cheque's value but on the answer page which naturally I did not refer to until after I had a solution, says 22-50 more than twice the value.
 
Thanks for pointing this out, Norman. This is a typo. The question should have been in line with the solution, which is correct. Once again, I first published this problem about ten years ago in Outlet, and there was no typo at that time. Rewriting it for the web page was a little too hasty, I guess! I've now corrected the error.
